What day is the embryo?
We understand that after the ovum is selected and the ICSI process begins, many parents may feel anxious, curious, and eager to see their embryos develop.
At N.I.C IVF CLINIC, we provide parents with the opportunity to observe embryo development after the ICSI procedure. The embryos are cultured until Day 5, also known as the Blastocyst stage, which is the optimal stage for implantation in the uterus.
Day 1 Embryo

Day 1 Embryo (1 Day Post-ICSI Fertilization)
On Day 1, the embryo has been fertilized by ICSI for one day. You will see a total of two circles in the center of the embryo. One circle is the nucleus from the father, and the other circle is the nucleus from the mother. This stage is called the two-pronuclear (2PN) stage.
Day 3 Embryo

Day 3 Embryo (3 Days Post-ICSI Fertilization)
On Day 3, the embryo has been fertilized by ICSI for three days. This stage of development is medically known as the cleavage stage.
Embryos at this stage are classified into four grades: Grade 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Grade 1 is the highest quality. In this image, the embryo has divided into 8 cells and is classified as Grade 1 because the cells are uniform in size and shape. It also has less than 10% fragmentation (internal rupture) of the cells.
DAY 5 Embryo

Day 5 Embryo (5 Days Post-ICSI Fertilization)
On Day 5, the embryo has been fertilized by ICSI for five days. At this stage, embryos are classified into grades A, B, C, and D, with A and B considered the highest quality.
The embryo in this image is an AA grade, meaning that both the inner cell mass (which will develop into the baby) and the trophectoderm (which will develop into the placenta) are of high quality.
An AA-grade embryo, if transferred into the uterus, has a high chance of resulting in pregnancy. Additionally, if a chromosomal examination is performed, it has a high likelihood of showing normal results.
